I ordered this balance for my 2 year old niece and nephew, but have found that it is not suitable for them at all. While I realize that the scale is designated for kids 3 and up, I don't imagine it is suitable for a child under 6. First, the buckets that hold the material being measured fall off of the base very easily. Second, the buckets do not move very far when there is a significant difference in the weight of the two buckets. The kids cannot discern the point of the scale for that reason. I had hoped that they would be able to put say, 3 blocks on one side and 2 blocks on the other and then be able to see that the two blocks side went up. That is not possible with this scale. The buckets have mL marks, which I suppose would be very helpful if the kids were in elementary school learning the metric system.

It's a scale and it does what it's suppose to do! We enjoyed using it to measure from liquids to sand or just other things you can weigh, my daughter started to even weigh her own toys including play food toys. It's nice to be able to play with something that gives kids the concepts of how big one thing can be still can weigh less than something so small. It was a great addtion to my daughter's play kitchen as well as for her science set play toys. It's a simple item to have but I got a really great buy from Amazon, Thanks!=)

I bought this for my then four year-old after we discovered he was a kinsesthetic learner. He has had a blast with the scale weighing coins, cars, toys and just about anything else he can think of. A year and a half later he still asks me to get it down off the shelf about once a month so he can experiment. I'm anticipating it being useful for illustrating future homework tasks, such as calculating less than/more than. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat! Excellent addition to the playroom and our shelf of learning supports.

This worked great for my first grader to practice with a scale. You do have to scale both sides before you use it, but overall I am satisfied with the product. The kids have fun playing with it.

I received the bucket balance in the amount of time that was said. It is a great product for small children to use. I use it in my pre-K classroom and it is very user friendly for a 4 year old! The kids love playing with it!
