I was looking for an excellent, almost museum-quality scale model and this is it. I actually display mine in my home (I'm that kind of guy) and it really looks great. Easy to assemble (extremely clever design BTW) but I wouldn't call it a "toy" -it's not the sort of thing a kid would bounce around the house with really.

But it's the best model of its type at a reasonable price. Extraordinarily detailed and nicely finished. If you have a clever "dinosaur kid" in the family they will probably love it.

I was looking for something to fill out my apartment, something that oozed manliness but that my girlfriend would still tolerate. Then I happened across this baby.

If you're someone like me who played with loads of Legos and Transformers as a kid, you can pretty much snap this together in under 10 minutes. If it takes you longer than 30, you pretty much fail as a human being. With practise, I imagine I could get my dino assembly time under 5 minutes and then enter the regional dino assembly championships.

For the price, the model is super-high quality. He has a metal spine that all the vertebrae slide sensually onto. Once you slot him onto his little rock he's perfectly stable. The finish of the bones is also great originally I was gonna spray-paint him shiny black but he looks so badass that I decided just to leave him as-is.

The only negative I have is that the base looks a bit ugly compared to the awesome majesty of the skelington. I would prefer a mahogany base, emblazoned with a simple brass plaque bearing the dinosaur's name, or alternately, a mound of blood-soaked human skulls.

Anyway, awesome stuff Elenco! I would totally recommend this for any classroom, man cave, or love nest.

This model kit was given to my son for his birthday. After our recent trip to WDW and the Smithsonian he has been fascinated w/ dinos.

My almost 9 yr old, my son (who is 6), and my 4 yr old were able to put this together by themselves with almost no help.

The directions were very easy to follow.

They were all very proud of themselves after this was complete. I couldn't believe the size.

My son really likes it and I like the fact that he is asking questions about something that was real!

Super fun and EASY to get the 50 some odd peices together; well engineered. My 6 y.o. and I got this together in about 30 minutes and he loves it. It is also quite the conversation peice!

Bought this skeleton for my wife and she loves it as well as my 18 month old son who constantly "roars" at it displayed on our shelf. Only took her about 30 minutes to assemble with only one kink that I had to file to fit. The skeleton cast is very accurate with only minor flaws and the paint job is not realistic but "acceptable". What is really great about this toy is that you can spent extra time to make it model grade hobby quality, for the people like me who want something just completely awesome in detail. 1. Repaint the stand or even glue sand and moss to it, 2. Trim off all the mold lines and sharpen teeth, 3. Putty up some holes, 4. Base paint it all brown, 5. Water shadow the cracks with dark brown or black 6. Dry brush it all light brown, 7. Then dry brush the highlights with a nice ivory tone, 8. Finish off with a spray of clear coat.

I also believe this model is a replica of "Stan" BHI 3033, but I could be wrong.

Stan is the nickname given to a fossil found in Hell Creek Formation, South Dakota, close to Buffalo in 1987 by Stan Sacrison, who also discovered the Tyrannosaurus specimen nicknamed "Duffy". The original fossils are now housed at Black Hills Institute of Geological Research, Inc. center. It is a well known specimen, and one of the most complete with 199 bones recovered.
