Review of Summit Mini Pop Up Habitat

We bought this for our grandson who likes to catch bugs (8yo). It is awesome that it collapses to fit in his small pack until ready for use. Then while we're walking on the watch for grasshoppers (or whatever) it is very comfortable clipped on a belt (or pack) loop because it is light and not too big. I ended up wearing it b/c he was so actively trying to catch bugs while we were walking. But it was no burden to be the bearer.

He has been using it as a stand alone home bug cage since our outings. We haven't done a lot of collapsing and expanding of it, so I can't promise how durable it is over active use...but for the price it's the best thing I've seen, and I've been through 2 sons and 2 grandsons. I will say that he's none too gentle with it because he gets extremely excited (urgent) with getting them in to the cage before they get away, while not letting the other ones out in the process.

When I take it out again, I wouldn't mind replacing the carabeener(sp?) because the one supplied is a little on the cheap side which doesn't do justice to the nice "habitat" cage...but the carabeener does work so don't let that stop you.

My 6-year-old loves this. We got the net to go with it, so he could catch lightning bugs, then keep them for a couple hours in this. He has caught all sorts of things to inspect in this thing, and it has help up really well. I like that it has velcro tabs to 'pop' it down for storage. A must have for all children, in my opinion.

this was a christmas gift. My niece was happy, she has a bunch of bug-catching equipment and this is better than putting them in jars. Seemingly a successful present.

Got it as part of a package for two boys, 6 and 3. It's a plastic kids toy and they loved it.
