My 3 yr old and 5 yr old like this toy. It gives them another way to conceptualize addition besides counting on their fingers. It is a good, tactile learning aid. They also like playing with the bananas in other ways (lining them up in order, feeding them to the monkey, etc.). They already have some math concepts from the LeapFrog Math Circus DVD (excellent!), so this is a nice addition to that.

I purchased Monkey Math for my four-year-old granddaughter whose mother is a Kindergarten teacher. I think Mom was more impressed! She feels that this is something that she can incorporate into her classroom to help her students comprehend math basics. As well, she felt that it teaches the basics of Algebra. Both my granddaughters (2 and 4) were enjoying playing with this game. I would highly recommend it!

My daughter (4), enjoys balancing out this toy. I have to write down the numbers and show her how to add them together for her to really understand equal or not equal though. All in all, it's a toy worth having I believe.

I got this for my 5-year old son. He seems to enjoy it, but it lags behind his other favorites. I think a big problem is that there's no competitive game aspect. It's just a game that makes it easy and fun? to do simple math problems. There is no set game plan, just long instructions on ways to introduce math concepts. I contrast this to "Sum Swamp" a math-based board game that my son just loves: that one teaches math concepts and grammar (x + y = ?) AND has a traditional board game-style competition.
