The sound effects are really great and the colors are really vibrant -even brighter than depicted on the screen. There are only 4 double-sided cards and I'm not sure how long they will hold up (although they seem pretty sturdy and just survived a tantrum when one got "stuck"). My 26 month old loves moving the car on the bottom to make the shapes move and loves the sound effects (especially the rocket and train) and I don't find them too annoying (yet!). However, I wish there were more than just the two main side effects for each page. It would have been great if each time the child inserted a shape, the device had a sound byte for that shape ("great, you found the circle!") or provided feedback if the wrong shape had been selected but I guess that would have made the toy too expensive. If your child loves puzzles (as mine does), then I think this will be a big hit as it's a creative spin on the typical puzzle (finding shapes that match although again, it's not self-correcting, like a puzzle would be). For the price, I don't know if you'll get your money's worth though; as I can see my child growing bored of this quickly (especially as there are only 8 scenes to construct with a limited number of sound responses). It may be something to play with for a few days and then hide...and bring it out again -and I can also see that we will be losing the shapes quickly (despite the well thought out storage capacity built into the board itself). But it really is a cute set and a creative idea and the price on amazon right now at twenty four bucks is the best available anywhere. I'll try to update this further once we've played with it more but my sense is that if your child loves puzzles and is a Team Umizoomi fan, this would be a solid, engaging holiday pick -with educational value -but there are probably better items out there for the current asking price.
The eight scenes are mostly gender neutral and very engaging -I think they did a really great job in selecting them:
-Truck
-Train
-Carnival
-Flowers
-Farm
-Submarine
-Rocket
I'll try t post photos so you can see, but she doesn't want to part with the toy! :)

So my 3 yr old son has been playing with this (maybe 1-3 x a week) for abou 30 days, and as of today it is not reading the cards correctly. I changed the batteries in the hopes that would fix the problem but it did not. Also, the full return period ended from amazon, so now I can guess I can only get a partial refund and I HAVE to pay to ship it back. Can't easily find warranty info from fisher price. Bummed that this toy is not made well or easily replaceable so I have to give is a one star review.

It's impossible to keep this toy all in one place. There is no way to store all the little shapes it comes with, and being that it is for a toddler storage should be considered when making these types of toys. It's been difficult to make sure all the parts stay together.

The kids at home have great fun over this toy. Though the game is simple, the changing of the various cards and the sounds produce have provided enhancement to the toy. Thank You..

i thought it would be a little more interactive. also, it doesn't even let them know if they used the wrong shape.
