We bought this bugle to donate to my son's scout troop. It seems adequate, but was somewhat disappointed when I inspected it. It appears to be a used instrument as some of the brass finish was rubbed off and there is a small, mauve colored spot that I cannot remove. It also came complete with a dead spider inside of it. I went back to Amazon to double check if it was advertized as new or used, and it is supposed to be new. Maybe because it is advertised as a vintage style it is supposed to have an "aged" look. I just thought that since we are giving this to the troop, I didn't want it to look used.

We couldn't get this bugle to play E, which is necessary in most bugle calls. The mouthpiece is not well-rounded making it difficult to play. We asked a trumpet player to try it and he said that it was hard to play. We sent it back and got a refund, but there is a restocking fee and the seller does not pay for return shipping. We bought another bugle from Amazon and it works fine.

My 4 year old granddaughter told Santa that she wanted a bugle and a donut for Christmas. . . She walked away with her candy cane (the real reason she loves to visit Santa) and went back to tell him that 'a bugle is an instrument and a donut is food!' just in case he didn't know.

She was thrilled on Christmas morning with her bugle . . she actually makes sounds . . . and her donut! The simplicity of a child!
