My daughter loved this kit. Finding the mummy, tomb and treasures was a lot of fun. She had a blast with it!

Our boys are 2, 8. 9 and 13. They loved this. They each grabbed something to peck away at the plaster with (chopsticks for most of the boys, since it's really a toy meant for one) and they had a blast digging out the treasure. One star off because the mummy's head was detached and had to be glued back on.

You will get dirty, it will make a mess but its worth it. The model inside is very realistic and we left it with rock still on it to make it look more authentic. Great fun, all you need is a small hammer and maybe additional wood tools. Laydown an old towel to catch the mess.

My son and I did this as part of our unit on ancient Egypt. It was a great visual on excavation, mummies, etc., and my son thought it was cool that there were hieroglyphics around the outside. The only downside I can see, is that it was pretty hard to dig up. We ended up cheating by grabbing a hammer and a nail, and chipped away a few huge chunks, until we got down to the sarcophagus. My son then excavated a large part of the entire thing, but ultimately grew tired, and I ended up finishing it. He really enjoys playing with the mummy and sarcophagus, though. It's been a few weeks since we did this, and I still catch him playing with it. It's a fun activity that can be as educational as you make it. I would recommend it.

I bought this item for my grandson as per his request for something similar to what I bought him last year. He is 10 and loved it. He really enjoys the mystery in having to dig out his treasure. I bought him the one similar last year when he was studying it in school and loved it.
