Just wish this came with a carrying storage case. The metal construction is very sturdy. The eyepieces are easily removable. The clips are spring mounted enabling ease of positioning the slide. Adjustable hole disk has several size holes for less or more light to get through. Comes with batteries as well as a plug-in power unit. Another switch for brighting/lessing of light. The mechanical piece that comes with it does not have instructions, however with a small amount of guess work, you can mount it on the table. The viewing is fantastic as far as I'm concerned. the large knobs are for greater amounts of movements, the smaller ones for more accurate detailed viewing. Now I'm getting spoiled by this microscope in that I'm getting into the habit of collecting whatever I want to look at in minute viewing. I'm quite satisfied by what I'm doing and what I'm seeing at the microscopic level and maybe one of these days, get serious enough to become an amateur scientist (if there is such a thing). This is the next step up from the "toys"! Just one thing though, make sure you order the extra accessories and tools so you can make more slides and other experiments for viewing. Happy trails!

works great. got this for my 8 year old nephew for Christmas and he loves it. We cannot wait till summer so we can go hunt down more to look at.

This was a wonderful, heavy-duty scope. We've looked at so much under it already. My grandson thinks this is the grandest thing in the world. Maybe it'll cause him to be a research scientist someday. WELL worth the money!!!!!!!

The microscope seems really fine, the kids were excited by it. The only complaint is the smell of mildew or mold that was inside of the box. I live in a dry climate and I believe the scope came from a coastal climate where everything is wet so probably the people who pack the box are used to the smell but we are not. Possibly the box needs some silica gel added to it to remove any moisture (and therefore the smell) that is in the box?
