First the sound is great. Deep and mellow. But tight enough for rapid cadence. Very little ring. Good tight thump. The workmanship in the frame is only so-so but you will forget about fit and finish when you hear the rumble. Be careful and keep the head dry and it should last quite a while. The goat skin head isn't as durable as synthetic but it sounds much better. Certainly worth the price.Best Deals for Trophy Bodhran 18 in
For the price, it is a great Bodhran (Boy, Irish is certainly not a phonetic language). If you are playing a lot of public sessions, this in not the one for you. You would want a tunable one. But it has a nice feel, good voice (or sound). It also comes with a tipper (beater) with a comfortable and useful "ridge" that is off center. For beginners this is helpful. When professional Bodhrans go from $300 $3,000, this is a great buy.Honest reviews on Trophy Bodhran 18 in
The drum I received is not as vintage or ethnic looking as the photograph makes it appear.Mine is white with nails holding the head on. There are no designs or patterns.
One of the 4 braces to hold the drum was missing a nail which made the whole construction loose. I was able to fix it though.
Sound quality is average, not 'boomy' like another reviewer claims.
