it is am amazing toy and has great detail.the only set back is that it is pretty heavy so if it falls on your foot it will hurt.it is about 17''long and good for play time in the bath.although i won't recommend this to children under 5 years because it is to heavy,but it is a great toy.

I buy these toy replicas for myself for educational purposes. They are cheaper than figurines and are just as good. This humpback whale, I say model, is fantastic! Better than I expected and better than the picture! It is very big, about 15 inches long and like the other reviewer mentioned, it is very heavy. Anatomy, color and details are perfect...couldn't get any closer to justice of a real humpback whale. Love the detailing that you don't see as much in the picture. Highly recommended.

I have the whole Monterey Bay collection, and I use them in my science class for teaching about marine animals and their adaptations. These replicas are great! They also make fun toys for kids, but I don't recommend them for young ones (under age 8 or so). These toys are made out of hard plastic. Their fins are pointy. As a result, you will find that kids see them as suitable substitutes for swords and use them in an all-out sibling duel. ;) That leaves the toys looking pretty beat up, and, in my experience, brings on Mom's reproach. You should only buy these for your kids if they are old enough and gentle enough to appreciate them.
