We can't get enough of these habitats! They are so convenient! We usually have three on hand, with one always in the minivan. They work so well because they fold down and go in a storage bag when not in use so that they can be stored almost anywhere very easily. They give whatever is in them a nice airy environment, and the white mesh and clear top make for pretty unobstructed viewing. The only drawback is that the mesh, as can be expected, is not the sturdiest of materials and can be ripped. We have taped a couple of small tears back together, but they do eventually become beyond repair. However, for the price and the fun, good use that is gotten from them, they are a great buy.

My son is an avid bug catcher and he has had one of these for two years now. He is hard on his toys, especially bug paraphernalia. It's EXCELLENT construction and is great for storing bugs/bees/butterflies/etc. It's held up really well over the years. It's not the one that comes with caterpillars this is just the container, but definitely worth it.

Ordered these for grandchildren for Christmas, was real pleased with the material and workmanship and the convenience of them being able to clip it on their belt while they are exploring.

Honest reviews on Insect Lore Pop-Up Port-A-Bug

We bought these for our kids right before we headed for a 9-day long camping trip. We bought two each of the Insect Lore Pop-Up Port-A-Bug and the Creature Peeper as well as a butterfly net and a book on bugs. The pop-up habitats are perfect! They are a great size for our 5and 2-year-old children; they can carry them easily and they nicely fit several butterflies and beetles. The mesh habitats allow the kids to enjoy the bugs and not kill them. We "let the bugs go home to their families" every night so we had a ritual of releasing the bugs which the kids also enjoyed. They have a nice velcro-tabbed handle which allows you to hang them from trees. We spent hour after hour chasing butterflies and other various bugs to put in the habitats. They are very durable (no tearing, which I was afraid of with our youngest) and I love that they can quickly break down to put away when we were ready to break camp. A great educational and play toy for kids young and old... I had as much fun as our children.

Do you remember the old plastic Bug Keeper from the 70's? Or maybe the 60's? The one shaped kind of like a bottom-heavy hourglass? With a neon top and bottom? ... No?! ...

Well, I would say this is the next best thing-but it's even better.
