I had these when I was a child and have looked for them for my own kids and now my grandkids. Although they are plastic, they were never damaged through literally years of play. The bells' sound is very pleasant.

I've alwatys loved the sound of bell music, as it's mostly heard in church. But those are handbells for handbell choirs and cost hundreds of dollars. So with these bells, it's a great start for beginners and cost effective. These bells I've gotten used for about $20, and they all rang perfectly, except some of the labels on the top of the handles were missing. I'm not musicaly knowledgeable and can't read music. So each of the bells were labeled with the musical note and a number on the bottom.

I've also gotten the book 8 bell note songs, and it's very easy to read and understand. I think of it as a numbered code as the numbered bell to ring is indicated by numbers. That makes it very easy to play the songs. Of course it's not all smooth, and pauses for the song broken up, as the musical desk bells would've made the songs played smoother. But according to the reviews for the musical desk bells, they weren't correctly tuned and don't sound right. But overall this is excellent and great for every bell music lover and want to learn to play them . Great for churches and schools for kids and adults alike .

My son loves to make music. This set of bells is great. The notes are clearly marked on top, they're brightly colored and they are large enough to handle easily. He loves them and we are pleased. The tone is good; I didn't really know what to expect from toy bells, but they sound okay.
