This little "drum" was a gift for my 5 month old daughter who was getting into slapping things with her hands. She loves it. I love it. The great thing about it is it has a soft pillow top and sides, but the weird thing is, it doesn't actually play drum noises. It plays two tunes in piano. The cool thing is, it responds to the slightest tap, has a low and high setting and an off switch. Each tap gives you a note and they create a song that way. It's a lot of fun, my husband and I both enjoy it :) I recommend it for a young baby. Even if they chew on it, it's fine because it's soft.

my son doesn't love it. He will pick just about any toy over it. We got this because, at 6 months, he loves to bang on things. I think he passes this toy over, however, because it IS so sensitive to the slightest touch, as another review states. There's no "cause and effect." Also, I do not see how this toy can roll to promote crawling. The sides are not firm enough.

I thought my son would like to bang on this because he loves banging in general. I bought it for him when he was 6 months. He pretty much ignored it until the past week or two (now 8 mos). He is not using it as a drum, though, he puts it on its side and rolls it and it makes noise (he is now crawling everywhere). Still not his favorite, but keeps him busy for 5 minutes here and there.

It doesn't take but a slight touch to make this drum play, which i love. no need to pound away on it. It has nice fabric covering it.

Cute and Soft for my boys first drum. He can gently tap it and it makes a noise to his delight. It does get kind of annoying especially since it plays actual songs but obviously your baby isn't going to hit the drum in rhythm. But in MHO all toys that make noise are annoying.
