It's a good mix. I did a detailed inventory against the included parts list and found several parts missing. I sent an email to the manufacturer, was promised the missing parts, but never received anything.

Many of the integrated circuits are defective. The product would be a good deal if it were composed of working parts, but since it is a mixed bag, it really isn't worth the money.

I got this kit for parts to use with an electronics text I've been reading. I've used roughly half the components so far and they seem to all work fine. To be fair, I haven't gotten to the more complex components yet. Things are logically organized and parts aren't difficult for a novice to identify. You *will* need to look up the color bands resistors, capacitors, and inductors.

I like the box it came with. The little walls in it are removable, so you can organize the different sized slots as needed. I ordered additional parts more specific to different labs I want to do and they fit with no trouble.

Elenco makes some kits as well. I've built their FG-600 Function Generator. The thing works well and was very cheap. I'm convinced that Elenco is a decent label.

hello, im a college student and purchased this basic parts set so i could save myself from driving all the way to an electronics store since it is like a 30 mins drive just to get there. this comes nicely packed with all the components in different plastic wrappings segregated by part type, resistors in one, capacitors in other and etc... comes with a nice and sturdy plastic box with no flex in any of it surface, and also comes with some separators so you can arrange the inside at your taste, have used some of the components in a couple of projects and they've all seemed to work flawlessly, the only problem with this set is that SEVERAL parts are missing, like all the 220 resistors, the buzzer, the LM386, 10k potentiometer, and more that i tried to find using a list that has all the components included. was looking to make a 20w amplifier with this and couldnt :S i guess ill have to drive anyways :(

PROS:

-Sturdy and reliable arrangeable box.

-Components I've used work.

-Nice plastic wrapping avoiding all the parts get mixed.

-Comes with a list with all the components in it grouped by category.

CONS:

-SEVERAL PARTS MISSING!!!!

-A bit pricey

CONLUSION: buy only if you're willing to gamble that parts that you need from this.

I wanted an assortment of parts and found this on amazon so I purchased it. It is as advertised and was useful, but later I discovered a grab bag of grab bags on Jameco.com and got 3lbs of parts for the same price. After that I felt this was rather overpriced.
