2 three inch bar magnets, packaged exactly as indicated, each with clearly indicated poles.
Uses:
Great for school science experiments, demonstrating magnetic lines of force, or just for idly playing with iron filings, paper clips and assorted metallic objects.
Useful for picking up pins and needles, nuts and bolts and anything else made of iron, steel, cobalt etc that you may have dropped.
Caution:
Relatively strong and may give small fingers a little (non-lethal) pinch if they snap together.
One of mine broke in half less than an hour after opening the package (no dropping, hammering, or otherwise untoward shenanigans involved.) On the bright side, I now have THREE magnets instead of two.
Summary:
Recommended for light to occasional use, but not suitable for heavy-duty applications.

I bought these to do some elementary physics with my 9 yr old son for a chapter on magnetism and electricity. Out of the packaging, they both seemed to work well; but after a day of playing with them, we noticed they were much weaker than they had initially been. I normally would return such an inferior product, but i had already torn up and thrown away the packaging. Lesson learned on my part to really test a product first!
