My husband and I both speak Chinese at home, but we aren't native speakers. I ordered these DVDs for my kids and I have to say I'm really impressed! They're engaging and accurate. The speaker is a native speaker of Chinese which is important for the tones. It's good practice for me too even though they are simple words. The videos are simple, but I think that it adds to the value rather than takes away from it. There is also no obnoxious singing which is always appreciated :)
The words are repeated many times and are said slowly. I think this is important. My daughter frequently repeats the words, so I know that it's working. When we're out and about I try to use the words as often as possible and she picks up on them. It helps!
I really recommend this to anyone who is looking for a way to teach their child some Chinese vocabulary!
