This is an excellent product for beginners at sign language. My best friend is deaf, and this is how I first learned how to sign. Highly recommend!Sunday, November 30, 2014
Carson-Dellosa Publishing Sign Language Reviews
I bought these cards to use in my Early Literacy Classes and for use with my 15 month old granddaughter. Encouraging parents and caregivers to use ASL with infants and toddlers gives both the adult and child a way to communicate before a child is physically able to do so. I was looking for a quick and easy to carry reference tool rather than flipping through a sign book when you need the sign to label something right now. There are 105 cards in this set: 26 for the letters of the alphabet; 10 number cards and the rest a fairly good selection of pronouns, feelings, verbs, responses/conjunctions, people, everyday object and animals. While I agree with most of the other reviewers in the cards' usefulness with older signers, I am disappointed that there are not identifying pictures included on the card for non-readers. For example: the card for ball has a drawing of a child doing the sign on one sign and the word "ball" on the reverse. If only a picture of a actual ball was included with the word, this would have been a much more useful product for my purposes of using them with very young children. In that case then, more identifying cards would have also been nice as the selection of everyday objects and animals is quite limited.
