Maybe its because my husband and I play a lot of eurogames, but I can't stand most kids games. The pure luck of the roll and move games don't really appeal to me, nor do I think they teach children much of anything.
This game is simple enough for very young kids in that it is a roll (or in this case spin) and move game, however the layer of choices makes it wonderful to play with older children as well (I'd say 3-8 for actual challenge) Its perfect for siblings who think on different levels. While the game is relatively easy to win your choices of who and what to more when do make a difference.
As with all coop games the game is played against the board, not against each other. This simple concept of team is fantastic for children when you are trying to avoid the whole winning/loser sibling fight.
While I do like hoot owl hoot better, this is a great game. I prefer that game because it has different levels of game play based on how many owls you use, which I enjoy more. When the kids are old enough I would like to introduce them to forbidden island. Peaceable kingdom's entire line of games is a much better option over many of the 'traditional' kids games like candyland.
5 star because its a great game, but I gave it 4 because its not my favorite in their line up.

Peaceable Kingdom's cooperative games are always a big hit with us. We love how they nurture coming together to solve a problem and figure things out. They nurture team work and cooperation. These games are great for all kids, but especially the ones that get a little too competitive while playing typical games, and for those that may take loosing a bit too hard.
