1. It is VERY STURDY. Our other tambourine fell apart after about a month. And it cost the same amount as this one. I would think it would be nearly impossible to lose the jingles in this one.
2. The jingles are made of 2 different metals, so you get both the "regular" tambourine jingle sounds and a more bell-like jingle sound that rings/sustains for several seconds. This is a very unique sound that CAN make the tambourine sound more like it belongs in a world/international fusion band. However, I am fascinated by the sound, and I use it in our band each week.
3. It does not give my hand a cramp. It has a nice padded handle as well.
4. Excellent price for an excellent product.
The only reason it is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because I do think the "ring" of the brass jingles may put some people off because it sounds SO different than many tambourines, to their untrained ears. I am afraid that may limit the purchase/playing of this tambourine specifically.

I am a lead singer and I play handheld percussion during certain songs. Believe me I have a wall of busted tambourines, cowbells, shakers etc. First off the construction of this is feels strong enough that I could withstand being driven over with a car. I wouldn't do it but it feels strong enough none the less. The shape of it is like a bean and thus allows for a great feeling shake, minimal movement needed to get that crisp fast pace beat. The combination of brass and steel jingles gives you warmth along with just enough of the crisp sound to cut through.I will be sticking to this model from now on!
