The below reviewer who gave this product a 2* must have had an old version. Our placemat does not have the gap mentioned between Finland and Russia. Updates may have been made. The back side of our world placemat is a blank world map where kids can test themselves on continent and ocean names. We use this placemat all of the time to show where we travel abroad, where our friends and family live and work, where something happens in the news, and we sometimes look up countries that we read about in the NYT/WSJ. This is the most durable placemat we have had. Our white board markers work great on this and we have a spray bottle and eraser we can use which makes it fun too!

This is a great map and so easy to read. The quality is great and it's very durable. My son and I have enjoyed talking about different parts of the world by simply looking at the map.

Nice colors, fun map, accurate information. The lamination is pretty thick, yet flexible. You can test your knowledge on the back, with fill-in-the-blank spaces meant for dry-erase marker.

I was happy when I first got this placemat its map is clear and convenient. However, looking at it further, I hate that it has factual errors. For example, the map shows a strange gap between Russian and Finland; it places Belize on the Yucatan peninsula; it omits Lesotho altogether. While I do not believe a child is likely to get misinformation from this placemat, it is annoying to have a map with obvious mistakes.

Heavily laminated. Good product. I bought this for my toddler to see where her dad was deploying too, and she loves eating on it.
