I just received this and it is a knockoff. Be warned if you order it.
It has numerous inconsistencies such as missing the "Made in Italy" on the front side, saying "Design in Italy" instead of "Made in Italy" on the backside, and missing the revision number.
While these are cosmetic details, it is more than likely made to a lower standard than the authentic boards, and may not function correctly.
For the price I would expect an authentic Arduino Mega 2560 instead of a knockoff.

The board is advertised as made been made in Italy, but is not. An original board has the label MADE IN ITALY on the top left corner and the packing is different. I have read other reviews of peaple having problems with this kind of board so I didn't even open the anti static envelope. I am just returning it.My first review was rejected by Amazon for no specific reason.I hope it doesn't happen again.
In summary, my recommendation is not to buy this board.

This item is a counterfeit. Save your self the trouble and the money. I realize that this controller is open source and anyone can make the board but the Arduino name is trademarked. I don't mind spending a little extra to support the company but if I wanted a clone I could have gotten one for $16 cheaper and since purchasing this seller raised the price $14 more so that makes it more than double the price of a clone. I am very disappointed that Canakit misrepresented the item by using pictures of the genuine item in the listing but this item looks different and has different components and layout then the genuine yet is stamped with the Arduino trademark logo and website. I am sure it will work just fine but I don't support blatant attempts to rip of the genuine producer nor the customer. If they wanted to sell a knockoff/clone under the open source guidelines they certainly could have done so without resorting to counterfeit.Honest reviews on Arduino MEGA 2560 Board
1) The image for this product depicts the stock photos of an Arduino Mega ripped from arduino.cc. The image shows "MADE IN ITALY" on the reverse. The board i got in the mail shipped from Shenzen, China and is labeled "designed in italy" There are actually English grammatical errors on the back, a sign of the attention to detail that went into this product.2) This was listed as "ships from US". It took over 2 weeks to deliver.
3) The ATMEL serial emulator on the board was not programmed properly. While I can fix it, I refuse to. The guys in China ripping these boards should be able to clone open source hardware as well as I can. (in short it doesn't even work WITH ARDUINO SOFTWARE)
4) The shipping label listed the cost in $US @ $8. Import taxes are being evaded by these guys. I am almost surprised it didn't say "sample"
--all in all this is a rip off! fraudulent images have been taken from copyrighted material. The use of a copyrighted name and trademarks on a board produced by individuals that cannot even clone it successfully without grammatical errors speak to the nature of the company and components. Making prices lower than US distributors can offer through evasion of taxes by misrepresenting costs of exported items, falsifying images and selling non-functional half-clones of an original is unacceptable. I didn't expect this from amazon.

I've has sooooooo much fun with my Arduinos (yes, I have several). The original Arduinos are tiny, and my stack often smashed into my variables. But now! The MEGA is here! We have more memory, folks! And so many pins!NOTE: The MEGA pinout differs slightly from previous Arduinos. You may need to change your existing software to work with the MEGA.
