I purchased the language cards, because my 7yo has AD/HD and I thought the cards covered some of my daughter's problem behaviors. The cards have turned out to be an good teaching tool. The cards cover table manners, telephone manners, being respectful to authority figures (teachers, parents) and common courtesy. I first tried using the cards with my 3yo and 7yo before dinner one evening, to discuss the right and wrong ways to act at the table. The cartoon figures held their attention very well, they never took their eyes off the cards while I was describing good table manners. I think the cartoon images of children chewing with mouth closed, using spoon and fork, not leaning chair back at the table etc. helped my daughters to focus better. They asked several questions about the images. I was suprised at how well the image of children doing the right thing helped them to remember what I am expecting from them at the table. This discussion of good table manners went so well, that I now use the cards to help with pre-teaching before we go on outings or to someone elses house. I also have some of the images posted up around my house to help my children to remember other good behaviors. The price of the cards is worth the change it has made in my daughters. My 3yo still says at almost every meal "look at me mommy, I'm not tilting my chair back because it's not safe and I could fall and bump my head." This is something I said to her during our table manners discussion over three weeks ago.

This is one thing that I have purchased to help in teaching my three year olds. It has been the most well-accepted thing in my arsenal of attention getters. I have been able to teach manners that they possibly knew nothing about and to reinforce those they knew of. It quickly gets their attention with the bright pictures and stirs comments from them. I have allowed them to pick their own card and discuss the good manner and bad manner in front of the class. My money was very well spent.
