Bought this to seed with nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria for my aquarium. Good substitute for "live rock" and at an awesome price.

Unlike calcium based coral skeletons ("reef rocks") it won't absorb or release phosphates.

This came in three pieces. One was small, one was medium, one was large. The medium one was what was wanted, a floating rock. It was gray. The larger one that actually had the heft to make it visually interesting did not float. We tried it in a tub with plenty of water. It was mainly brown. I do not know if there was another rock other than pumice attached since the other one that did float was solid gray. My daughter and I were disappointed with that. We threw away the brown one and kept the gray one. However, the medium one could have been obtained cheaper, so that disappoints.

This floating rock is a great addition to a child's science collection. I even donated one of these to my son's classroom.
