Overall the toy is well made, however the center portion of the tambourine is a little thin & when a 4-5 year old plays with it they can puncture the material.

It's a fun tambourine. My 10 month old really liked playing with it. We also purchased the Jungle Music Baby Instrument Set from Hape, which happened to have drum sticks (with no drum). My baby realized that she could bang on the centre of this tambourine with the sticks, and it sounded quite a bit like a drum. How fun! Unfortunately, after a few bangs on these drums, the plastic broke! It would be great if the centre of this was made of canvas to allow you to use as a drum that would not break!

I love Hape toys because they are made out of wood and not plastic. Seem very sturdy, colors are nice, and my son loves all of them. This has a good sound to it.
