This globe is just what I was looking for. It has a nice antique look and is decent quality. The label on the bottom says it was made in India. The mango wood base has a bit of a hand-carved look to it and the iron semi-circle, which halfway encircles the globe, as well as the brass end caps, have an antique appearance. This looks very nice sitting next to some other antique-looking decor. Note that it is intended for decorative use only and isn't meant to be used as a serious globe.

I am very satisfied with this piece, I guess I must just get really lucky with my purchases because I so rarely get damaged items, the base was dark in color as shown and for me the picture is accurate, it also sits straight and flushed to the surface of my desk, overall it is adequately put together but of course not heavy or of great quality but it certainly does not look cheap. Check the dimensions as it is small but perfect for a smaller desk which I have. I do like the design and color and the over all effect is pleasing.

I don't really use it that often, but it's nice to look at, kinda like a knick-knack. It sits on top of my book shelf.

I ordered this globe looking for an attractive decorative piece. It really is a nice looking globe. However, it is basically just a map that they glue onto a sphere, and the map was ripped in several places. It looks obvious to me that it was ripped upon the item being assembled not damaged during shipping so I find it disappointing that they would ship me an obviously damaged item. I am still giving it 3 stars because if it was not damaged I would have been very happy with it. I'm going to return it and order another one and hope that this was just an unusual circumstance. Will update when I receive the new one.
