Our kids got this as a gift and we figured it would be educational but we didn't realize how much they would enjoy it. It is interactive enough that it holds their attention and they have learned a whole lot from playing with it. It is easy for them to operate on their own, and we love that it has different volume settings (and even a headphone jack!). It is very 'hands on' in that they touch a country/region, see where it is in the world, and then get to learn about it. And of course they love the fact that they can teach us what they learned. Oh, and it shuts itself off after a period of inactivity, so no worrying about someone leaving the toy on and running the batteries down. When other families have come over and seen the globe, most agree that it's one of the best ones they've seen. I definitely give this globe a thumbs up!!!

Toy is sturdy and holds fascination for long periods of time. Feel it is best to have adult supervision initially for best learning. Provides entertainment even without supervision. Requires 7 AA batteries but does not drain them quickly.
