When I was thinking of buying this set, I was wondering why it was so expensive. But as I was categorizing all pieces I found out. Many of the items are authentic, miniature sizes. Not to mention that they included quite the assortment of items. For example, a real, Erasermate eraser was included for the 'E' container. A real bell, a real notebook, a metal pan, etc. The only items that were not authentic, were items like a xylophone, that would be impossible or too costly to be made real. These types of items are vinyl.

I am a pre-primary teacher and teach children ages 3-6 and all the children LOVE this toy! We play games where we take out 2 or 3 tubs at a time, identify the objects and place them in a pile. Each child will take turns picking an object and deciding which tub it goes into. If they have difficulty I give them hints such as the beginning letter sounds or for the very young, I'll ask, is this a "Rrrr" rrrrobot, or a "T" Tobot? They think it's funny. When I get these phonics tubs out before you know it I have a crowd of children wanting to play. We have had this toy for YEARS and even the children that have mastered their letter sounds still love to play with it. I always have a teacher monitor it so that we don't end up with lost or missing items. However, when I ordered it they sent me a form so that you can always reorder any items that become lost for a small fee.
