Good quality learning toy, but not complete.
The only complaint I have is the ability to create curves, which it can not.
It is limited to sharp angles, though tight angles, which helps.
This can be, and most likely will be, solved with new parts which Zometool's allows you to order separately.
This is the greatest strength of this product, keeping the base product while making it better with newer parts.
The Lego set for the mathematically inclined.

The Zometool system is a compelling math tool -in theory. I was introduced to it at the Museum of Mathematics in NYC and ordered a set for my family. I'm disappointed, however, by quality of the materials. While the connectors (the white balls) seem very well made, you be disappointed by the small imperfections at the ends of the struts (the rods) on many pieces. You often have to force the end of the strut into the connector because there is extra (or frayed) plastic due to poor manufacturing. Sometimes the alignment is a tiny bit off so you likewise have to muscle the pieces in. If you are used to Legos, which have legendarily precise machining and manufacturing, you will be annoyed by this. Lego is obsessed with the quality, standards and exactness in manufacturing even the simplest Lego 1x1 brick. This translates to a very pleasurable building experience because the kinetic/haptic feedback from fitting Legos together conveys assurance the the pieces have been locked together perfectly. In this way, building with Legos give you a thousand little perfect feelings which is why every kid goes crazy building with Legos once introduced. It hits some pleasure feedback loop. I was hoping for a similar experience with Zoomtools because the literature about the product is, even more so than Legos, quite high-minded and principled (and even the most basic set is not cheap!). Alas, not so. All and all: excited by the concept, disappointed by the product.
