I bought this for my four year old son, because he wanted to do homeschool like his big brother but didn't have the fine motor skills to trace along dotted lines to form letters which is in many preschool books. He was very excited by the stencils and able to use them. He didn't like the spaces in the letters where there is a cross bar and he had to pick up his pencil. When he finished writing the letters with the stencil, he would go back and fill in the blank spaces. The letters are a nice size, and he also liked putting the sets of letters in abc order, so they had multiple uses. The stencils are of fairly stiff plastic and should stand up to tough wear.
