The value of the X-Track is the ability to change directions and expand routes that vehicles can take. My son likes the ability to turn his trains around or make choices on each 'lap' around his train table. That's the good news.
The bad news is the connections on the X-Track are shaped ever-so-slightly different from other popular sets (Thomas, Melissa & Doug, Imagination/Toys'r'us).I'm having to force a lot of pieces into the female connections. The male connections are too large for many of the other brands. I've considered grinding them down a bit with my Dremel but managed to wedge the necessary connections into place for the time being. Once my son is old enough to start building his own track, I may need to reconsider the Dremel option so that he doesn't break a connection off. It's that tight of a fit.

This x-crossing is a great addition to our set. It is very nice to have so my 2 y/o son can cross track without having to use the bridges that came with his original set. Those require quite a bit of manual dexterity, something he doesn't yet possess. My only complaint is the price, as there are only 5 total pieces. I think a fair price would be just under $10. Other than the price, it is very nice.
