My son was thrilled when we received the Shape Sorting Presents. He loves learning and shapes are something we have been working on lately. This is a fun way to teach about shapes as well as broaden his vocabulary. My son and I would take turns drawing a photo card and then we would say what was on the card and find the correct shaped gift box and put the card in it. My son used to struggle with the differences between squares and rectangles and ovals and circles. After playing with Shape Sorting Presents, he now knows the differences. He loves presents so this set really entices him to play and makes it fun. So instead of just learning about shapes, it's a game that he wants to play over and over again. It's been a great way to teach him and he is a pro at shapes now and his vocabulary has really grown

This 96 piece set comes with six sturdy, three-dimensional sorting boxes that are all dressed up as presents. Children LOVE presents, so the child is immediately drawn into play. Each sorting box has a lid with a slot in it and each lid comes off its respective box. There are 90 sorting cards, each with a "real item shape" side and a matching "chalk drawn shape" side. For example, the card with the photo of a picture frame has a chalk drawn rectangle on the back. The cards are very heavy-stock and made to last through many play sessions. The box itself is sturdy enough to be the storage box, even in a busy preschool classroom. Honest reviews on Learning Resources Shape Sorting Presents
What I liked most about this set is that the items on the cards are everyday, real pictures of items. For example, the star shaped card has a picture of a starfish on one side, and then on the other side is just the generic drawing of a star. The pictures on the cards are enough to capture a child's attention for sure. The set has 90 picture cards, 6 shaped boxes and also an activity guide that lists a few ideas on games to play with the shapes and their boxes, and all shapes store in the gifts, so they are nicely contained.
Shape Sorting Presents is geared to children ages 3-8 (I think ages 3-5 may find it more fun) and the set includes 6 different shaped boxes that are decorated to look like wrapped gifts! Each box has a slot on the top where the child will insert the correct shaped item that they find on the cardboard card to make the shape match.
