I do like this sand pendulum, however, the angle of the "upright" holder isn't the right angle so it ends up stopping short and much of the outer area does not get used.
If it had only come with just another Tblsp-full or so of sand, and the upright angle was corrected, it would probably make fantastic designs. I'm still trying to play with it regardless of the bad angle and lack of sand. But unfortunately my family isn't interested in it at all as I thought they'd be.
It comes with a pendulum point cover that's used to smooth out the sand. That's equivalent to using a paper towel to mop up a flood in the kitchen, per se. There should be a better tool to level the sand before using.
Also, it only comes with assembly instructions and no booklet or printed paper that gives you suggestions on how to make certain designs.
The concept is good but the same old design (pretty much every time), lack of the cool sand, lack of design directions as well as a leveling tool make this "okay".

I bought this purposely to detect earth movement. Luckily I haven't had to watch it! But it sits nicely on the coffee table for when I'm ready. Very nice, very sturdy!

It's plastic. What can I say. The design is not well thought out. The top metal piece that goes in the grooves pops out easily if you touch it. The cost of these pit and pendulums today is exhorbanant! You can find better stuff....much less expensive. I would say, don't waste your time or money. Not worth it.
