Positives:
1) it is sturdy and 100% wood
2) beautiful minimalist design
3) it is small enough to fit on a typical train table without overwhelming the space (much smaller than the Thomas roundhouses for example)
Negatives:
1) it is so small that only Plan City engines will fit inside and allow the doors to be closed. Even the smallest Thomas engines will not quite fit
2) the track grooves are very shallow and don't hold the trains well
3) the included piece of track that attaches in front of the roundhouse to channel trains to each berth is much larger than the picture and does not attach snugly against the building
Overall a nice, high quality toy, but just a bit too small for most purposes

I bought this roundhouse for my grandson's Plan City train layout. It holds 3 engines and has 2 doors that swing either way. My grandson is only 2 1/2 years old and I think it may be better suited to an older child. It is very well made. It is also pretty big so it takes up a lot of space on a typical train table and connecting it to the layout requires a switch track section.Best Deals for PlanToys Roundhouse
We recently got the Roundhouse as companion to our train set. Somehow I missed that this piece was available earlier or we would have bought it before. My son is very pleased to put his trains to sleep each night Nice sturdy construction and attractive design. The doors are really nicely designed. and can flip either way. The scale is correct for other Plan Toys road and rail sets too. It isn't clear in the picture but it comes with a substantial wooden track piece to connect to the tracks.
