To start playing all you have to do is download the free Ubooly app from iTunes. After installing the app, Ubooly magically comes alive and plays with your child. Ubooly has the sweetest eyes and face, and he tells fabulous stories, jokes, and even falls asleep! (The snoring was a big hit!)
My girls loved that Ubooly came to life, but I especially loved that the app also has several games that can be played as well. Ubooly is not just a cute face that talks, the app has many other fun features too. I was also thrilled to discover that new free content for the game is available every month to download. This is such a great idea so that the Ubooly app doesn't ever get boring.

I am a sucker for both toys and iOS apps that encourage creativity, and this combination of both elements has quickly become a family favorite. My girls have just fallen in love with Ubooly. The cute thing is, they have taken him everywhere from the grocery store, to the park, and even to Grandma's house! He has even had a bath in the washing machine (after removing our iPod Touch of course!) and the girls thought it was so fun to watch him spin in the washing machine. We have found only one problem with this cuddly friendwe only have one! I hope more color options come out soon because we definitely need another one around here!

The Ubooly is such a fun toy for kids of a variety of ages. When you first take Ubooly out of the box, you find a really fun certificate in with it. It explains to your family that you have adopted it. I loved that this was one of the first things that you come across in the box as it really sets the tone of the caring aspect of the toy. The plush toy that houses your own iphone or ipod is adorable and the packaging that comes along is cute and easy to follow. Once you download the app, you are ready to start playing. What I love most, is that there are several ways to play with the toy. As you have adopted Ubooly, you also have to care for him. The app gives you ways to earn coins and shells which in turn buy Ubooly snacks and other items that he needs to live a great life. There are various games to play that are more traditionally like a video game where your phone doesn't have to be held in the plush. But once you slide your phone in to the character the really fun, imaginative play starts. Ubooly comes to life and engages your child. The voice used it child-like but not at all annoying for the parent. The toy tells jokes, stories, fun facts. Ubooly gets your kid to get up and jump around the room. There are prompts that your kid has to follow and riddles to solve. And the Ubooly also plays music. The app allows Ubooly to pull from your own Itunes library to play a song so you can dance along. My older son (6) enjoyed listening to the stories but asks more often to play the games part. My younger son (4) really likes to listen to the stories. The fur is super soft and both sons really liked to hold the Ubooly and snuggle him. Another great part about the toy housing your phone, when they drop it, I had no worries that my phone would be broken. It was very safely nestled inside the stuffed animal. The app automatically updates when updates are available through wi-fi so the stories change and new interactive prompts are added. And it just might be the cutest thing ever to see my youngest son jumping around the room so Ubooly will make a "boing" sound. My kids are constantly fighting over our iPad and have since forgotten about our iPod, until now. With the addition of Ubooly to our house, now they can't get enough of our iPod Touch. Ubooly is a plush little guy (ours is named "Tic Tac Toe") that you zip your iPod Touch in and interact with the screen. Ubooly is super easy for my kids to use and they figured it out immediately. I think they love to throw Ubooly in the air the most, yes there is a surprise if you do! I think the stories are cute and my 4 year old actually sits and listens to them with no problem. You can also play with your Ubooly by saying "Play a Game." He will prompt your child or you can tap the screen to change activities or put your Ubooly to sleep.
Ubooly did have some trouble understanding my little guy but actually it is helping him pronounce his words better so it is helping him with that too! I think we just need to practice saying the right phrases and close enough that Ubooly can hear us through all his fur. I cannot believe though how much my 5 year old played with him though, he carried him around and actually sat and listened to Ubooly's stories and jokes!
You can also play the Ubooly app independently but my kids are kinda young for that and don't get the app as much as they do when its inside Ubooly. I actually can't think of anything like Ubooly other than the old Teddy Ruxpin or Furby but the great thing about the Ubooly is that is will be updated automatically! No cartridges to buy or additional software, it updates on its own and keeps my kids entertained. It also protects my iPod Touch with Ubooly's plush exterior.
Overall, our Ubooly "Tic Tac Toe" is now a member of our family. My iPod Touch rarely leaves him anymore and I am totally fine with that. I don't have to worry about it breaking or my kids hearing anything inappropriate from Ubooly. I highly recommend Ubooly for any parent looking for something different for their kids but still techie!

This cute little UBooly has been so much fun for our children (2.5 and 6)! There have been a few times, when running errands, out of desperation, I'll hand my phone over to one of my children and it definitely helps get us through the store. Add Ubooly to the equation, and you're sure to have a really fun combination for your kids to love. I love that when your child uses Ubooly, your phone is protected in a soft cushioned case. Having my phone drop on a hard concrete warehouse store floor is enough to worry me, and this sweet orange "bear" like case helped to cushion its fall on several occasions!It is also a really fun interactive toy for your children. You can ask it to read a story, tell a joke or do other things and it will actually do that! It's pretty fun. My kids love the interaction with Ubooly.
For the most part the app runs without a glitch, but a couple of times it has exited out of the app unexpectedly, but it's easy to just start it right back up again. And my kids definitely both this this little cute orange bear is a lot of fun.
