These can be used to create pictures, patterns and designs, and I have found many other uses for them as well. Since they are transparent, I use them to show my kids what color combinations look like. For example, if you put a blue shape over a yellow shape, it makes green. This is a very hands-on way to teach many different skills. The pieces are also pretty and look amazing on a light table or when used with a projector.
I do wish the pieces were thicker, though. They are very thin plastic and remind me of CD cases. The corners are pretty sharp, so you have to be careful when reaching into the container to get the piece you want. Some of the pieces are also extremely small. That being said, it's not designed for toddlers, so that's not a real problem.My daughter wanted these for Christmas and was very happy with themnot sure what all she does with them though...
