Wife is a retired math teacher and wanted blocks to teach shapes to 2 and 3 1/2 year old. It worked. They still play with them a year later and know all their shapes and love to put them together to make new shapes. This has become my granddaughter's (aged 4) favorite plaything as she delights in seeing how many ways she can put things that "match" together. Great addition to helping young minds learn and understand "attributes" like color, size, shape, thickness etc.
