These are the most adorable maracas ever! I was hesitant to buy them online because I thought they looked kind of small, but I saw them in real life at a children's boutique and was pleasantly surprised--the handle is about 5 inches long, and the maraca end is about the twice the size of a regular egg.

The sound is good, the beads inside are on the big side though and the sound is not as smooth as professional maracas. Considering that this is a toy I purchased to encourage my 16 month old son to count beats with his music, these are perfect, he instantly took to them.

The toy is incredibly attractive, eye-catching, and beautifully hand-painted.... My only concern is that in the three hours this toy has been in my home, my son has already managed to very lightly crack the face of the maraca on our carpet. It think it has more to do with the way the paint was sealed on the toy versus a problem with the wood, and I do not believe at all that the maraca end is ever in danger of breaking and posing a chocking hazard to my son. Still, I like to give toys a solid week before they start to fall apart, and I do not know how these will bode in the future.

Very fragile Maraca, my son son played with it & bang it on a wall ones & it cracked in half. All the little balls fell all over the place. I still see them time to time, & it's been 2 weeks.

These maracas seemed cute and fun at first until I realized my kids have an unnatural compulsion to beating them together instead of just shaking them. Well, that seems like harmless fun until they explode, shooting tiny silver balls of various sizes in all directions. Since my kids got many of these from their grandparents, this has happened several times. I cannot say the life expectancy of these toys is very long.

My daughter and I loved the look but these are are made of such soft wood that they got badly dented withing 5 minutes of play.

We love our new maracas toy but were very surprised to receive only 1 maraca don't maracas usually come in a set of 2?? The picture is deceiving and unfortunately, I did not read the fine print. $10 for 1 maraca seems a little extreme ($3.99 plus $6 shipping)!!!!
