I have been teaching a child for a while all about patterning. She already knows how to read but for some reason learning about patterning was a struggle. I worked with blocks and toys but none of them helped. I bought this toy and I was amazed. Having the child use the board and all of the wonderful images on the cards is working. It is a lot of fun and different. She loves it. It is great interacting educational toy. For educators, I love the little tips on the back of each card. I have bought many Smethport items and this one is as amazing as the rest.

This is perfect for preschoolers who aren't yet ready for work sheets but are ready to learn basic shapes and colors. Everything is sturdy and can withstand some abuse. The cards are big enough to use and manipulate for little fingers but not so big they are bulky and un-manageable. If you have one product to by for preschool, this would be worth your money.
