Learning Resources offers many fabulous toys that make learning fun. In this review I want to share a really unique toy with you, the Hands-On Discovery Lab. This toy takes the mess out of hands on exploration and discovery.
As the mother of a young boy, I know exactly how messy discovery can be. The Hands On Discovery Lab keeps experiments enclosed and clearly visible and allows your child to touch a variety of objects with no mess!
You can cap the holes for the gloves and use as an observation station for viewing insects. My son really likes bugs, so this has been a great asset for me, I am not so fond of insects and the less I have to handle them the better!Or you can put just about anything messy inside that your little learner would want to touch and feel. I love that I don't have to endure as many discovery disasters now. I really like how easy to clean the Hands-On Discovery Lab is.
I think this will be used much more in the coming years as the lab is very sturdy and durable. It is easy to keep clean with basic soap and water cleanings and it is a really fun item to enhance learning for your little ones. I would recommend it to parents of curious children. I think it would make a fabulous holiday gift or addition to a home school classroom. You can purchase the Hands-On Discovery Lab from Learning Resources.

The Hands on Discovery Lab was a solution to my dilemma of having to share the kitchen with my kids science experiments. This lab is really awesome and can be used for more than containing those icky sticky science projects but can be used as a observation station too!The Discovery Lab comes pretty much ready to go straight from the box. All I had to do was simply twist the non-latex glove rings into the lab structure for the specific project we were planning on doing! There are also side caps that you can use on the lab instead of you plan on doing a observation science projects instead of a hands-on one. The ventilated lid is great for anything that needs to breathe inside!
The instructional activity guide that comes with the lab is very informative. It goes into to detail on how to conduct three different science projects which are as follows Working a Worm Farm, Building a Terrific Terrarium, and how to make Slippery Slime! You can do just about anything you can think up!
My four year old daughter and I decided to make the Slippery Slime suggested in the activity guide. We had a blast! She really enjoyed helping me put together the ingredients we needed and then she got to play with it mess free inside the lab! The gloves fit over her hands with plenty of room for her to grow. Though it's suggested too that you can use regular household gloves too when these wear out. Clean up was a cinch too just using soap and water for the lab!
One feature I wish it had was maybe a lock or some sort of tight sealfor the top of lab. That way if we decided to observe some insects or something and a tumble happened nothing would escape. Overall though, we really like the lab especially since there's promise when containing some of our science experiments that there will be no more messy clothes, dirty floor and table tops!
I highly recommend Hands on Discovery Lab for any home or school classroom. It's totally fun way to observe science and get hands on without the messiness that often occurs!
