First you have to put the 4 shapes in the right place, and then you have circles to sort onto them by size, so this toy teaches a few different skills. It is also adorable and the look gets kids interested in playing with it.Best Deals for Melissa & Doug Stack and Sort Butterfly
I bought this for my 18 month old. He loves it for the first few minutes, then moves on. The first time I showed it to him he figured out how to put the rings on each center post, and once he's done that the fun is pretty much over. He'll pick them off one by one and then put them back on, but for some reason it's not nearly as entertaining for him as the simple wooden stick with different sized rings. THAT toy continues to keep him entertained!I wish I would have bought it for him as a one year old, I think he would have enjoyed it for longer as it would have been more challenging. I think they were way off on their age recommendation, I can't imagine a 3 year old having any interest in this.

I ordered it for my 16 month old son.Its a little to early for him but he enjoys it.Its a good size,nice bright colors and very sturdy.Wish it had a different shapes.The pentagon and hexagon are a little on the similar side.Well this is from a younger child's perspective.My son has at least started differentiating the colors using this toy.Like the other M&D puzzles this is a good toy.I got it for just 5.99 which is a very good price.
