This is an amazing concept and very sturdy. Much like all Melissa and Doug items. The 'chores' they have a reasonable for young kids and not too advanced. The biggest downside for me is that I have two kids and I want each of them to be held accountable on their own and not collectively. This chart does not allow that. I also wish they had some blank pieces so you could add your own chart. Overall, this is a great product, but I am going to order a different one.Thursday, May 22, 2014
Melissa & Doug Deluxe Magnetic Responsibility Chart Reviews
This is one product with endless soulutions to the most basic problems. I use it for their house chores as well as behavior modification. Some of the 30 some magnets to choose from are in the category of household chores with choices such as feeding the dog, brush teeth, set the table, put toys away, ect. The behavior, my personal favorite group, reminds them about no whining, share, no yelling, no hitting, keep hands to yourself, be helpful, ect. There are two blank ones for customizing purposes. Each directive also displays it's own picture, perfect for the younger children. I have seen a major decrease of yelling and misbehavior within 2 weeks of using this. Mainly it saves my voice, and I just have to goto the wall and point at the task they need to work at. Each of the task lines includes seven squares, clearly marking the days of the week, another great learning tool. The reward or "well done" stickers are actually circular magnets with smilie face stickers on top that are in a varitey of colors and sayings (i.e, well done, good job) The bottom portion of the board is a white dry erase board perfect for making anitional comments or in my case, the bedtime chart. I posted bedtime hours contigient on what they do to make them more motivated. Out of 7 possible stickers for that particular day, I would allow them to stay up till 9:00, or if they only have 5-6 it may be 8:30; 3-4 is 8:00pm and 1-2 would result in an early non-prefered bedtime. Since my two realized that they have control over their bedtime, they have been more willing to do the non-perfered task and assist me more volentarily. This also helped with seasonal, christmas, birthday and "on demand" toy wishes, since I just exclaim how many stickers they need to be able to earn that particular reward. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased.
