For this price, Classroom Jeopardy should be considerably more durable and programmable. My school has purchased 4 of these systems so I have had a chance to use several different systems, even from different years of production. I am a science teacher and love to use the system with my students, however, about 1/4 of the games I write come up as "corrupted date" and won't play. About another 1/4 of the time I am using the included game-writing software, the system will crash if I hit two buttons at the same time; it is a very fragile editing program. Also, no images, video, nor audio clips can be added to questions. Heck, you can't even cut and paste into the program as you write a game unless it's in all CAPS. I just think for the cost of 2 Nitendo Wii and then some, Classroom Jeopardy could do a lot more and be much more functional. When it works, it's a lot of fun, when it doesn't it's frustrating as heck.

This game is so amazing that I had to write a review. My kids are 9 and 11 years old, and although they're average to smart, they're not readers. I accept that they will probably be late bloomers when it comes to reading, so in the mean time I'm always looking for alternative ways for my kids to learn. Not every method works for every child, but this really works for us. My kids don't even realize they're learning when we "play" this game. To begin with, the game is easy right out of the box. There are plenty of game cartridges for sale, but from my experience, the games you create yourself are the reason to buy this game. Instead of buying the preprogramed cartridges, I bought the pack of 10 blank cartridges that you can use over and over again. If you work in Word, creating games will be simple, and if you don't, the instructions are written as if the reader is technologically inexperienced. Similar to the game on t.v., the first round of single Jeopardy has six categories, so I create 3 or 4 educational or academically challenging categories, and 2 or 3 fun categories like Spongebob trivia, sports nicknames, or a geography category of family vacations. This keeps my kids excited to "play," and the academic questions they don't answer resurface in later games until they finally know the answer. At the end of the game, we have a little plastic trophy that I found in a dollar bin at Target that we put over the winner's name on the game board, and my kids act as if they just won an Olympic gold medal.
It takes me about an hour to an hour and a half to think up 12 different categories plus the final jeopardy question, check the accuracy of the difficult questions on the internet, and type the questions and answers onto the Jeopardy cartridge. Time consuming, but time well spent. As for the price, it is expensive, but I bought the game and cartridges at different websites where they are offered at lower prices, and I rationalized buying this game because I know that my kids will be playing this game for years. And not just once or twice a year like most games, but more like 30 to 40 times a year. The only limitation to playing this game for my family is finding the time to play and my ability to think up new categories. This game is highly recommended.

Everyone will have loads of fun playing classroom jeopardy. I's easy to make up the questions, and your students will now LOVE to learn. It's expensive but it's worth every cent that you pay for it. If you want students to want to come to school every day this item is for you.Honest reviews on Educational Insights Classroom Jeopardy
Exiting corporate for a career in education, my first year of teaching was a challenge. The students found the curriculum long and boring, and retaining the information for the state exam was next to impossible. Relatives who taught for twenty plus years recommended and financially assisted me with purchasing this equipment for my second year of teaching, and now I'm the "Cool Tech Teacher with Games". My attendance increased every Thursday due to it being dedicated to playing Jeopardy! and students who I thought were not paying attention were actually participating. I cannot begin to count the number of Exceptional Children (EC) and At-Risk students who were not only able to pass the state exam but to recall a good portion of the curriculum in advanced courses due to this instructional strategy. This game system allows teachers to focus on key words students need to comprehend to identify vocabulary, and real-world situations to explain a principle, theory, or an event. If you remain unconvinced this game system is worth the investment, then allow my test scores and classroom management to be a living testimony. The first year of teaching, my students scored 70% on the state exam for my advanced course. Last school year (2nd year teaching) my students scored well above 80%and my students beat the average state score last semester! An Assistant Principal relocated across the hall last year, and ran into my classroom when he heard several males arguing. Surprised, he stood in the back of the room in silence to witness At-Risk males argue over the controller and how to answer the questions the correct way.
When school started for this year in August 2011, I was covering my syllabus with new students only for one to stop me after rule number two. "Is this the class that plays Jeopardy!?" he asked, and all I could do is smile. The student passed the state exam, gained confidence to continue studying technology and Engineering, and I will forever use this strategy while remaining in the classroom. :)
The only con I have are the controllers lacking durability when students drop them on the floor. Replacing them are costly.

Not just for children and classrooms great for corporate educational efforts as well! It takes me only a couple hours to create a Jeopardy session which takes about 20 minutes to play (double both numbers when also doing a Double Jeopardy session). The game picks a Double Jeopardy at random (very cool). I've had no glitches when playing (except from remotes not always being seen when using an old battery). Overall, easy to use PC software that's well thought out and useful hardware that provides all of the fun of the TV show.Other reviewers have complained about limited options when the teacher presses correct but meant incorrect the truth is there are many options to make things right.
Others have complained about games not loading make sure you always check for spelling as other game corrupting errors are also checked (although, stopping the spell check half way through can cause the program to crash).
Others have suggested there should be an online community to share games and experiences this exists at the manufacturer's web site.
The only problem for me was the cheap proprietary cartridge system. While it should just use an off the shelf, say, SD card, it uses instead a large kludgy cartridge that was a constant source of error messages to write to, to delete from, or to erase (and why I removed one star). For one thing, the J-Edit software is not officially compatible with the MAC OS 10.4 or later or Windows Vista or later (in other words, there hasn't been an upgrade since it shipped). With multiple attempts (and occassional forced closes), however, I've always managed to get saving to the game cartridge it to work.
For video or audio based questions and true wide screen support (not to mention supporting an OS from the past 6 years), see the new 2011 version. I preferred, however, the much cheaper price of the older 2006 system (I paid under $50 in winter 2012).
