So, I have one of those 7 year old boys who gets very bored, very easily. We took it outside and my child went looking for bugs for 45 minutes. We have a small lake in our neighborhood with a walking trail around it where he was able to find some worms at the shoreline and use the kit to examine them. My only complaint is the "big" bug house was really hard to put together and very low quality. I would have given this a five star review if the books enclosed and the big bug house were made slightly better.
The pros the information presented seems to be good in the books provided. It made it easy to identify findings in our local area. It kept my child entertained for an extended period of time. We didn't need to add addition items to the kit to use it.
The cons poorly quality of the big bug house and the books enclosed could have been made to be actual books instead of some loose sheets of paper stapled together.
I would still buy this product again knowing what I know now.My 6yo is loving this toy. It gives her the tools she needs to do the "grown-up" entomology activities she wants to do.
