This item is of decent overall quality, but there a couple features it lacks that would make it an all-star item. First, it is cumbersome to attach and remove the cap. You have to set down the net and use two hands especially if the user is a little one with little hands to either fasten or remove the cap. It could have used a handle in the middle or something to make it easier. Second, the telescoping handle is flawed because when the handle is extended as it is supposed to be whenever it is used it doesn't stay put for very long, frequently sliding apart and frustrating my 4-year-old. I would recommend a different net.

Purchased ofr my child's science class, and although not used exclusively as a toy, it has worked out well and serves the desired purpose. Sturdy and portable. Prompt delivery.

Lately, my 7 year old is fascinated with bugs so we have them captured in all sorts of containers. I thought this net would make it easier to view the bugs because you do not need to transfer them into another container. All you do is put the lid on the ring of the net to enclose it; then rotate the handle and attach the net to the hook on the end; resulting in a small tent. The net/tent makes a neat little display of your catch.

My daughter loved the features but sometimes she forgot to slide the piece in place which keeps the net in the upright position and it would fall back down. Frustrating when your in pursuit of a new captive but she was able to easily fix it on her own.

The concept is cool and I would have rated it with 5 stars had I not bought two. The first one worked great although the lid was a little hard to get off the ring even for me. But this was better than having an escapee in the house.

However, the second net was a big disappointment. We got one for a gift for a family member because ours was just "so cool". After opening it and eager to show how it works, the ring detached from the net and the lid fell off. I was able to tie the ring back on but the lid just did not fit. This was a big let down for them and me.

I opened this and wrapped it last night for a Christmas present. I love it, and the idea of being able to catch and view what you have caught without damaging it is brilliant. The only thing I don't like about it, is the head of the net does not lock into place, so it can flop over. But other than that it is a great item that will be played with a lot.

I bought this for my two daughters ages 6 and 9. They are very active when they play outside, and they love to explore nature. This net is clever, but the storage feature is kind of a gimmick since you have to stop using the net if it's being used for viewing, i.e. you obviously cannot continue to hunt bugs if you're storing one.

Also, kids like to catch other things with butterfly nets, given the opportunity. So, if your kids have access to frogs, lizards, salamanders, etc or anything in water, this net will likely take a beating that it will not survive.

Case in point, the handle snapped on ours when the kids tried using it in the creek as a crawfish net. Now, I realize that this is *not* designed to be a crawfish net, and it's probably not fair to rate the sturdiness of this product based on it's ability to handle that type of play... That being said, if your kids are likely to use this net for *anything* besides waving in the air and catching butterflies, I would suggest looking for a stronger net, preferably one with a non-plastic handle.
