We ordered two Mobigo 2 systems for our twin girls' 4th birthday. The girls were excited and began playing the games that come pre-loaded as soon as their party ended. We noticed right away that on one of the devices there were three keys on the keyboard that didn't work at all. We returned it and Amazon sent us a replacement nearly overnight. About two weeks later, we received a few game cartridges as a belated birthday gift. We had only been playing pre-loaded and downloaded games until then. About 5 minutes into a cartridge game the second device stopped working. It would start up and begin to load and then just went to a black screen. We weren't even able to turn the device off. The girls had played gently with these toys. They have not been dropped or mistreated in any way. It is very disappointing that both of the two systems we ordered have had to be replaced. Amazon does a GREAT job of getting the new one out right away so the girls barely noticed that they were without it for a short time. They are both working now, but after this experience I'm skeptical about their durability and am not excited about investing in a lot of cartridge games if the devices are going to keep on giving out.

The online set-up and parental tracking are very easy to use and the games available for download are fun and educational. The girls love having their own little handheld entertainment and if not for the trouble with the quality of the hardware, we would definitely have recommended these. After returning two out of two though, I'd say vTech should be paying more attention to the quality control.

Overall very satisfied with the product. Very durable and great for interactive learning. My only complaint is that it does not come with a power cord.

There is a reason LeapFrog toys are more expensive.

My daughter used to have a LeapFrog the original, a handme down that broke after several years. I got the MobiGo to replace it because I found it on sale.

Big.

Mistake.

1) The software is extremely non-user friendly. I am a computer programmer I know how to use computers. I haven't been so frustrated using software since I was seven years old.

2) The games are stupid and not educational. My daughter loves them, of course, because there are fairies and princessess, but having come from the wonderfully programmed LeapFrog games, I can tell they are very subpar as far as interactivity and educational value is concerned.

3) You have to plug the MobiGo in every time your kid completes a level so they can claim their "reward." It took me over an hour to figure out how to do this the first time as there is no indication on the website, in the manual, or on the game itself how to do this. It's literally a picture of a trophy. Seriously? You couldn't program that in to the cartridge?!

The VTech world is filled with sub par programs and the most non-user-friendly interface I've ever encountered. DOS made more sense to me as a nine year old. If I could, I'd go back and spend twice as much on a LeapFrog device. Maybe I can sell the MobiGo some weekend and replace it with a decent piece of hardware that won't make me want to scream in frustration every time I have to plug it into my computer and spend an hour transferring my daughter's "reward". (Worst programming EVER.)

Seriously, spare yourself the headache. Go with LeapFrog.

On the plus side it seems very durable. That's the only good thing I can say.

Just wanted to warn people. I just got this to replace my daughter's broken mobigo original and I happen to have a game storage cartridge for games purchased online and it does not work in this model. The licensed games appear to work from the previous version, however the touch and learn cartridge also does not work with this version. I contacted v-tech to let them know and after what I thought was a good conversation with someone in tech support who confirmed by trying the floor model they have in the tech center found the same problem was sending it on for further investigation. Unfortunately it appears they don't follow through with their word. I was supposed to be contacted back three days ago and they have both my phone number and e-mail and no contact. I called them myself today, was told they hadn't heard back from management and I'd get a call back today... surprise surprise no response. Anyone want to bet what they'll tell me if I call tomorrow? Don't matter anyway it's going to be returned. Original broke a few months after the year warranty was up, my daughter played with it a lot I figured it was worth buying another. I'll find a different product for my daughter since the company is proving to be so rotten.

I did want to add that over all it is a nice game for kids, although the new motion game "hamster bowling" is a bit challenging for my three year old. I'm sure some kids would get it pretty quick but it's not a normal concept of tipping the game and it isn't explained well that they don't want the hamster ball to roll against the grass.

Edit: I wanted to add that we did end up returning it. The games were not bad, but they do lack challenge for my daughter. Even if it had accepted the touch and learn cartridge I think I would be dissatisfied with it by now. We ended up getting the leapad2 and have been very happy with it. It has a much wider range of games, and accepts a wide range of cartridges from leapfrog.

I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old daughter and she loves it! The screen is easy to see and clear picture. The buttons are easy for her to use and the system isn't so fragile that I am afraid of her breaking it. Plus the games that go with it are user friendly and really great educational tools (the reason I bought it).
