It's a cool toy, but it's really meant for little kids between 3-4 years old. Might be a little too basic for a 7 year old in my opinion. Check out the video review.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I got this for my grandson to try out. While there is a warning that says not for children under age 3, my 2 year-old grandson is more interested in making toys go than putting them in his mouth. When my daughter first opened the Amazon box, her son saw it; he whispered, "Wow!" and immediately tried to grab it! She had a difficult time, getting this out of the box, because her son's hands were all over it, trying to grab it from her. He pushed a button, it made a noise, he whispered "Wow!" again. It didn't take him long to discover all its features... Cody Burns, the robot, the firetruck with working wheels and ladder, lights and noises galore! Each new discovery brought another "Wow!" whispered in reverence.
My daughter has a hard time finding anything that keeps his attention for more than a few minutes, before he's off playing with the next toy. He played with this for almost an hour, and the only reason he stopped is he got tired when it was time for his nap.
This isn't just for very young children either. As soon as his two older sisters (age 7 and 9) saw their brother's new toy, they rushed over to "help" him play. And as soon as he was down for his nap, they took over and had hours of fun with the www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008HYGFGE/.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Last week my niece and 3-year-old nephew came to visit, and while here I presented him with this truck to play with while visiting. He was so excited. When we first took it from the box it was already assembled which was a huge relief. The ONLY problem was putting on the stickers that came with it. I wanted to follow the instructions completely and put the stickers in precisely the correct places, but Alessandro wanted to be a bit more creative and put them where HE thought they should go. It took everything I had to back off and let him be in charge of the stickers. That said, when he was done it didn't look quite like the image on the box, but Alessandro was pleased as punch with it.He played with that truck and the little man that came with it for 5 days straight. It didn't hurt that I didn't have any other toys in the house for him, but he didn't seem to need anything else. He figured out how to take it apart and "transform" it. He chased the dog around the living room with it and basically had a blast. The truck was very sturdy and remained intact afer dropping it off the deck onto the concrete below. This was a great toy for a 3-year-old. Wonderful product, wonderful quality. Highly recommended.

Ordered 2....one for each grandson. They loved it! Of course, they are into the Rescue Bots and love the series. It is a good wholesome series and what I like about these transformers is that they are not as evil looking as others I have seen. They are well made and the characters fit little hands.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Transformers Rescue Bots Playskool Heroes Electronic Rescue Bots
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program My toddler daughter is obsessed with all things robots, so you can imagine her fondness for old-school Transformers.THIS amazing toy has kept her interest for days and days which is just great.
It is so disappointing when a toy meets with lukewarm reception, but when she opened up the box with this in it she literally jumped up and down with her arms up yelling "YAY!" She loves the trap door most of all.
She calls it her "bobot train" and even wants to lug it with us on errands, I let her take the Optimus Prime that comes with it since it is small enough to carry around but big enough not to lose or forget at the store.
She says that the little person that came with it is a girl, the box says its name is Cody so I guess she could be right.
The sound effects are not annoying compared to some toys in our house that suddenly developed cases of laryngitis (wink).
If you get this toy for a child you will be rewarded with a ton of smiles and some down time for yourself, win-win!
I would spend the money to replace this toy if it broke, I don't say that for many things in the toy-box.
