Fisher-Price and their iXL have once again ruined a special day for my kids. We bought this game for my son's birthday and just like Christmas last year, I have to explain to him that he can't play with his new toy. The installation from the CD went just fine, however, as soon as it was finished it tried to do the Auto-Update/download the actual software. It now just keeps giving me an error message over and over again requiring me to restart my computer just to make it stop. The iXL software was working just fine before I installed the Cars 2 disc and works just fine if I uninstall the title. You would think after the Christmas Day debacle, Fisher Price would have learned how to burn a CD with the actual software on it. If I ever get a hold of customer service or figure out how to fix my problem, I'll update my review with one of the actual software.

UPDATE: FP updated their servers and the update now works. My son has been enjoying the game. If you've used any of the other iXL software you know what you're getting. The games are good and simple enough for the 3-5 age range and the interactive book is nice without being too long.

The Cars game is a good one and is comparable to the other IXL games, but after we purchased the game for our grandson and sent it home with him they couldn't load it as they have no internet access where they live. They called the company that offered to send a disk that they could load without internet. They said it would take 6-8 weeks to get the disk. Not much of a Christmas present if you have to wait until March to play with it. We did receive the disk in just a few weeks, but it was the Scooby Doo game (which he already had) and not the Cars game that we ordered. Long story short they had to bring the game back to our house to load it rather than deal with waiting for another disk to be provided. I don't think you should have to have internet to load a game that you have paid for and comes on a disk, we didn't pay for a download.

I bought this product for my 4 year old Grandson and he loves it. It is both fun and educational and he uses it on a daily basis.

1) I just bought the Cars IXL 'software' today. Went to install it...Fisher Price's server won't let me download the 'update' that I need to play the brand new game. It is absolutely stupid.

2) The worst part is...it lies to you and says you have 'lost internet connection.' That's hilarious considering I'm typing this review as I try to update it. At least be honest and admit that it is a Fisher Price server issue that you have been having for at least 8 months based upon the reviews.

I'm just furious. We can't take back the IXL at this point...it was a Christmas gift...and now I can't expect to buy a $26 game and have it actually work.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME UNTIL FISHER PRICE RESOLVES THEIR ISSUES.

FP seems to have fixed their server issues (or I guess, my internet connection has been 're-established'...LOL!)

The game is working great. My 4 year old loves it.

My son loves anything with Lightening McQueen so of course he plays this on his iXL often. Games are fun.
