My 2 year loves it... We used give him the ipad version. So I decided to buy the real one as it was on lighting deal....... to my surprise , it's light weight, easy to carry, makes enough sound, quite colorful for my son's taste and can be used for many more years(I like to play too)...

Only con is....I was expecting red but I got the green one. It would have been nice to be given choice in selection.

I bought this for my youngest (who's 1), but he's never really shown much interest in it. He went through a phase when he was 6-9M where he loved to bang on anything. I also have a 2 1/2 year-old and he doesn't really care for it either. That being said, in my household I think it would've been better to buy when my kids were younger (less than a year). While it hasn't been played with much, it seems to be made of good quality (like most Little Tikes products). Plastic is thick/heavy duty, paint isn't chipping off the metal keys, etc. I also like that there's a place to snap the stick into, and wheels and a handle to it's easy for a beginning walker to transport.

I bought this Xylophone for my 2 year old son who loves music.

My wife was a little worried about having just another "noisemaker" toy, but it actually sounds great even when he is just banging away randomly on it.

The one I received was green, not red like the picture, but it still looks great. The striker is attacked to the xylophone by a cord so it won't get lost. There is a handle and wheels on this toy so I assume it could be rolled around. It is so light that my son just totes it around with him and I have yet to see him rolling it. This is a quality toy and should hold up well to repeated use for years to come. I had one similar to this when I was little and the striker was a thin stick with a ball on the end. This xylophone has a newer design striker which has a thicker handle to make it easier to grasp and hang on to.

Be mindful giving as a gift and make sure the parents are cool with another noisy toy. This can be pretty loud, although I don't find it annoying like the sound of the Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Corn Popper Push Toy.

Honest reviews on Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune Xylophone

it's a nice product except I expected a bit more from Little Tikes. They keys are all out of tune and they jump from note to note. thought i'd be able to show my grand daughter how to play three blind mice or twinkle twinkle. :(
