I picked up this scope for some soldering and it works very well, especially given the price. My daughter also enjoys the scope for inspecting bugs or rocks. I also purchased the 5MP camera and it works well for taking pictures or videos.

For electronics, this microscope really is great. There's huge amount of working distance, which measures 9 inches (plenty of room to comfortably hold a soldering iron). It also allows you to focus each eye independently for good depth perception.I find that the 5X and 10X optics are perfect for electronics work. The 5X optic works nicely for soldering and the 10X optic is great for inspecting your work. The set screw is small and rather delicate, so I always take an extra couple of minutes swapping eye pieces so that I don't strip one of them out.
All the adjustment knobs are smooth and have a quality feel to them. Very nice for such an inexpensive microscope.
There is also a light that shines directly onto the viewing area. It's definitely useful, but I fee that it could have been a bit brighter.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. It does the job and doesn't break the bank. Well done AmScope!
