My toddler enjoyed this musical toy, which is an engaging introduction to musical instruments featuring her favorite Sesame Street characters. If you're looking for a Sesame Street toy that is cheap and will keep your child occupied, by all means, buy this toy. However, if you wanted to buy a musical toy that might last a couple of years, this is not the one you want!
After only TWO MONTHS, this toy started to produce the most disturbing, low-pitched noise that scared the bejeezus out of my daughter. After listening to a short song or a minute of "Demo All", seriously, this nerve-shattering noise from the bowels of purgatory churned through the speaker. Perhaps our keyboard was defective. Perhaps. It's still pathetic.
I would recommend a more interactive toy, such as a xylophone or glockenspiel, for a toddler. However, if you're looking for a keyboard specifically, look through some of the Amazon Customer Reviews of other products and rely on your instincts. We've had more luck with broken crayons than with toys like this.

I bought this piano last Christmas for a young four-year old, and it was her favorite gift. The piano just broke this Nov., and I'm buying another one. My granddaughter played with this toy everyday, and loved it. Even I enjoyed playing the tunes, following the lighted keys. Great toy! One drawback--without the accompanying handout, you do not know what preprogrammed songs match the numbered keys, but my granddaughter learned quickly how to find her favorites.

We got this toy about a year ago and it's still going strong. My son (2 years old)is autistic and occasionally throws his toys and drops them on the hard wood floor, he often jumps and walks on this keyboard and it still works perfectly so we've not encountered the durability issues others report. It has a better sound range and more functions than any other child's keyboard we could find and the black keys work (they often don't in toy keyboards). I like this keyboard a lot.

Look at all the features and you'll be impressed with all this piano has to offer. Open it up and you'll see it was well designed. It was, not, however, well engineered. It was no match for our three-year-old, it stopped playing music within a few weeks. I was able to determine that a small circuit board was poorly connected and was shorting out. I was able to get it to play again by inserting a shim between the case and the board and it worked again for a little while. And then it stopped again. This time, the wire had come lose from the speaker. I was not able to repair it a second time and dropped it in the trash. A shame, really.

I bought one of these used a long time ago. My (now 2 year old) son LOVES this keyboard. He loves how the keys light up and he can play the songs himself. The downfall is that every once in a while the keyboards releases it's dark side it will emit this very loud, low-pitched screach that terrifies my son! To this day (a year later) it still scares him. I got so fed up with it (and it seems to go thru batteries very fast) that I ordered a new one here on Amazon with the hopes that it wouldn't happen again. I should have listed to the othere reviewers. Within 30 minutes of playing with the brand new toy it did the same thing. I sent it back immediately. I'm so dissapointed! He loves to play with it, but I hate seeing him so scared (at yes, he cries every time)! I would rate this 5-stars if it didn't make that noise. The only reason it's getting 2-stars is because he loves it so much.
